Since this business is highly personal in nature and you probably would like to know a little about me, I will be pleased to tell you something about my background and my motivations. After completing secondary education, I studied journalism in the United States for one year as an exchange student. Because of my penchant for architecture and buildings I subsequently opted for studying Building and Real Estate Management at Delft University of Technology, from which I graduated in 1999. I then started as project developer at Breevast B.V., a real estate investment company. Driven by ambition and a special interest in organizational and business-economic issues, I decided two years later to join the internationally operating architectural firm, de Architekten Cie., in the position of Staff & Operations Manager.
During this period I discovered that my sincere interest in people and their interactions as well as my ability to make accurate assessments could be effectively deployed to achieve good results. This worked well internally within the framework of human resources planning, but also externally. For instance, I was able to help various friends and acquaintances to find interesting new jobs through my network.
Since I drew so much energy from these activities, I decided to turn this into my profession. This resulted in my joining Ebbinge & Company, a recruitment, selection and search agency, in January 2006. This is where I really learned the ins and outs of the business. I started as a consultant for a number of large strategy agencies, was responsible for the set-up of the Young Professional Segment and the multinationals portfolio for the Finance discipline, and ultimately filled many (senior) finance positions at a variety of multinationals and other large corporations. The major share of my work concerned search assignments.
I very much enjoyed recruiting for positions at ABN AMRO, AFM, Ahold, Akzo Nobel, ANWB, Bain, the Boston Consulting Group, Danone, DSM, Heineken, KPMG, KPN, LVMH, McKinsey, Mediq, NXP, PepsiCo, Robeco, Sara Lee, Schiphol Group, Schuitema, Shell, Syngenta and Vopak, among others.
The positive responses of my clients to my ambition of establishing an executive search agency of my own and, of course, the faith I have in my knowledge and professional skills, were ultimately the deciding factors that encouraged me to actually take this step.
I am looking forward to also hearing your story!
With kind regards,
Mitelijn Staatsen
